Banja Luka city become the capital city of Vrbas Banovina in 1929. The first ban was Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic. Upon arrival to the city he saw that the city is quite dead and depressing and he decided to revive it. He governed for four years and during that time Banja Luka developed significantly.
Numerous buildings were built and the most important are the Banovina town government, Ban’s Court, Home of the king Petar I Oslobodioc, Sokolski dom, hotel Palas, Palace of the Republic, City park, the Museum.
Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic was born on September 7th 1882 in Nis in Serbia. He finished military school and built outstanding military career and received numerous medals. Hi finished his military career in 1927 and became a politician. Soon after he came to Banja Luka as the governor. He left the city in 1936.
The monument of ban Tisa was revealed September 25th 2004.
