The Ban’s court is one of the oldest sight in the Banja Luka. It is located in the city center right across the Banovina town government which today is the Municipality building. In 1929 Banja Luka the capital of Vrbas Banovina. The first Ban was Svetislav Tisa Milosavljevic and he built the biggest and most beautiful city sights. The Ban’s Court was built from 1931 to 1932. It was used as Ban’s home till 1941 and it had a big hall for musical and theater plays, council and meeting hall, apartments for the Ban and for the guests.
During World War II the Ban’s Court was significantly damaged and it was later used as military and political building. In 1955 the city authorities put the Ban’s Court under the management of the House of Culture and so in 1998. the Ban’s Court became the Cultural Center Banski Dvor.
There are numerous cultural and musical events, plays, exhibitions and other events held at the Ban’s Court every day.
