Banja Luka is a city known for its friendly people and delicious food. It’s a city with rich history and beautiful nature. From the cold mountain river Vrbas and its canyon to the hills and mountains covered in dense forest. If you’re interested in exploring this city and nature a bit better, we invite you to join us for this forest walk in Banja Luka city.
The forest walk takes us to the peak of the Banj brdo (Banj hill), the picnic area locally known as Šehitluci. Banj brdo is located about 6km from the city center. Due to its location and beautiful nature, this area is one of the most popular locations for locals to visit.
There is an asphalt road that takes you all the way to the top of the hill, but we choose the forest trail because it has many benefits. Besides enjoying beautiful nature and cleaner air, spending time in the forest improves our health immunity and quality of sleep. It also reduces (every day) stress levels. This is more than plenty of reasons for you to join us for this forest walk in Banja Luka.
We offer three different options for this tour so you can choose the one that best suits you. All routes are easy and they provide a nice recreational walk.
The first and the shortest forest walk starts at the base of the Banj hill. At the beginning, we have a short walk on the asphalt road and then we take the forest trail. This trail leads us all the way to the Trešnjik picnic area, the Fallen soldier’s monument, and descends to the popular Hot springs. This walking tour lasts around 4 hours and we cover around 10-12km. We take short breaks when needed. The walk is easy and requires minimal physical condition.
We start this walk at the local hot springs and continue our way up through the forest. We climb all the way to the top of Banj hill and then continue to the Trešnjik picnic area. After a short break, we continue our walk above the city until we reach the point with the best view of the city. This walk lasts around 5-6 hours, we cover about 12km and the trail isn’t difficult.
This tour begins with the best homemade coffee in Banja Luka. After coffee, we start our walk to the local hot spring where we enter the forest. We climb up to the top and then have a nice walk through the forest until we reach our final destination – the best view of the city and delicious lunch. This is a half-day tour, we walk around 14km and the trail isn’t difficult.
Note: This tour requires 2 people minimum and it’s arranged on weekends only. Depending on the weather, adequate shoes and clothes are necessary. Tours start in the morning hours.
